The Scheff Lab is always seeking motivated medical researchers that have an interest in the neurobiology of pain and cancer, and we welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities. We have several academic positions available on a rotating basis:

Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students can rotate in the lab after admission to any of the programs with which Dr. Scheff is affiliated as training faculty, including:

  • CNUP: Center for Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh
  • IBGP: Interdisciplinary Biomedical Graduate Program, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
  • HCC Oncology: UPMC Hillman Cancer Center Oncology Graduate Program
  • MSTP: Medical Scientist Training Program, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Postdocs & Senior Research Scientists

Postdoctoral candidates can email Megan Atherton (megan.atherton@pitt.edu) with a CV, three references, and cover letter summarizing their graduate work and describing their future interests. Currently, we are only able to accept U.S. Citizens or individuals with a green card.

Undergraduate Students

Students are welcome to send their CV/resume, a statement of interest, and their anticipated availability to Megan Atherton (megan.atherton@pitt.edu). Please keep in mind:

  • We typically require completion of an introductory neuroscience or neurobiology course prior to starting in the lab.
  • Positions are usually filled ahead by 1-2 semesters.
